General Lines Property and Casualty Agent Pre-Licensing Course (200 Hours)
(2-20 License)

This state-approved program prepares you to take the General Lines Property & Casualty agent’s state exam and successful completion of this course fulfills the state pre-licensing education requirement.  With this license an individual will be able to transact property and casualty insurance of every kind.  He will be able to own his own insurance company and solicit insurance business outside the office.

Cost: $530.00 (for Florida Residents with appropriate documentation) + $15 records fee + cost of book

Cost: $1946.00 (for Students who have not lived in Florida for the past 12 consecutive months or cannot provide Florida residency documentation) + $15 records fee + cost of book

Registration

application

An application must be completed with registration. Click on the application above, print, complete both pages, and fax to The Insurance Institute at 904.381.3605. For registration, be sure to include the class reference number from the schedule. Florida residents must also fax the following residency documents to prove that you have lived in Florida for the past 12 consecutive months:

If you are age 24 or older:

  1. An enlarged and lightened copy of your Florida driver’s license with an issue date at least one year prior to class start date.
  2. Either a copy of your Florida voter registration card or Florida vehicle registration with an issue date at least one year prior to class start date.
  3. Please call 904.381.3557 if you cannot provide the above documents or click to view Residency Guidelines for alternate approved documentation.

If you are under age 24:

  1. Additional information is required.
  2. Please call (904) 381-3557 or click to view Independence Guidelines and Residency Guidelines for Parents.

Once our office receives all required documents, we will process the application.  We will call you to confirm your registration within 48 hours or receipt.  Please feel free to call our office if you have questions 904.381.3557.

Payment can be made with a debit or credit card by calling the Business Office at 904.381.3572, or you can pay online at Florida State College at Jacksonville, click on student log-on, enter your user-id and password, scroll down to “My Finances” on the left side of the page and click on “pay for my classes”.  Online courses will not be accessible until the tuition is paid. 

Access to the course could take up to 24 hours after payment is made.  If you have any questions, please call 904.381.3557. 

Textbook

The required textbook for this online course is The Florida General Lines Agent and Customer Service Representative Study Manual, 18nd Edition, ISBN 9788888891392. Book prices and editions are subject to change. The book may be found at a community college near you or it is available online at Efollett  and usually costs less than $53.00. The book may also be purchased from the publisher, FAIA Member Services.
