Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) Review Course (CWK 0048)
Legal assistants/paralegals who have registered for the CLA exam and CLA
Paralegals who need to satisfy continuing education requirements for maintaining
the CLA designation (see below for eligibility).
The National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA) certifies legal
assistants through a comprehensive two-day examination. The Legal Studies
(Legal Assisting) Program at Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Northeast Florida Paralegal Association (NEFPA) offer a six-week review course and essay-writing
workshop for qualified legal assistants/paralegals interested in taking the CLA
exam and becoming certified by the NALA.
- orientation and ethics, general law (a/k/a "American legal system") and business organizations,
- real estate law, criminal law and legal research (including "blue book" citation),
- contract law, family law, and judgment/analytical (emphasis on essay writing),
- litigation, wills, estates & trusts, and communications,
- mock exam, course review, and testimonials by successful examinees, plus proven test tips and
- essay writing workshop (optional an additional $60 fee)
To be eligible for the CLA examination, a legal assistant must meet NALA eligibility requirements. Please see www.nala.org for specific information.

- $325 non-NEFPA members
- individual sessions can be taken for $75
each
Note: a one-time $15 membership fee applies if you have never taken a class at Florida State College at Jacksonville
