Basic Law Enforcement and Corrections Recruit Entry-level
Fitness Test
It is important for effective law enforcement
and corrections officers to be in good physical condition; therefore recruits
are expected to demonstrate a minimum fitness level prior to acceptance in to
the program. Recruits are expected to demonstrate a maximum effort in all areas.
Both Basic Law Enforcement and Corrections classes have minimum physical ability
requirements. Hired Corrections and Law Enforcement classes have recruit standards
that are set by the employing agency.
The Center will
offer the Corrections to Basic Law Enforcement Crossover course on an as needed
basis. This is determined by the amount of student interest and agency needs.
All interested Corrections Officers should contact Phyllis Frank, Administrative

series of tests are administered to ensure the recruit possess sufficient physical
strength and endurance to sustain themselves during the intense physical training
program administered during the Academy training cycle. Recruits will be graded
on a sliding percentage scale with a minimum average passing score of 70% considered
acceptable. The test series will measure strength as well as cardiovascular endurance.
