The South Campus and Deerwood Center Library Learning Commons (LLC) are instructional areas of the College specifically designed to offer a variety of teaching, learning, and research resources to students enrolled in courses at Florida State College at Jacksonville. LLC services to students, faculty, and staff include: individual and small group tutoring; traditional and virtual library services and materials; subject-specific instruction including orientations; free workshops; study areas; and access to tutorials, computers, and multimedia technology.
With a focus on quality service, LLC team members put “students first” by offering individualized assistance to facilitate academic success. Many faculty members volunteer to spend office hours working with students in the LLC, furthering the synergistic mission of making high caliber, subject-specific help readily available to students both in and out of the classroom. Student tutors working in the LLC actively participate in training sessions covering subject competency and relevant tutoring skills. Dedicated LLC staff and faculty members have degrees in a variety of disciplines and in addition to working in the LLC, many have faculty certification and teach as adjuncts for the College.
