Spring Athletic Awards
Every April, Florida Community College at Jacksonville sets aside an evening to celebrate excellence in academics, athletics, and life in general. The Stars Athletic Department is joined by the College’s Administration, members of the District Board of Trustees, members of the Foundation Board of Directors, parents, friends and community members to showcase and honor our student-athletes and their accomplishments.
Each of our six sports present four separate awards. Those awards are:
- Academic Award — selected based on grade point average and coursework.
- Coach’s Award — selected based on the spirit of hustle, dedication and desire to excel.
- Most Improved Player Award — selected based on progression of skill and development since the year began.
- Most Valuable Player Award — selected based on outstanding athletic ability in terms of contribution, coach-ability, skill and department.
The final award presented at each ceremony is the President’s Award. The selection criteria for the President’s Award are:
- grade point average of 3.0 or higher,
- participation in their sport,
- leadership,
- community/campus activities and
- desire to achieve.
The 2009 Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Wilson Center on FCCJ’s South Campus on Beach Boulevard.
