Florida Community College at Jacksonville ranks first in the annual survey of Digital Community Colleges by the Center for Digital Education and the American Association of Community Colleges. The annual survey examines how colleges are deploying technology to streamline operations and better serve students, faculty and staff. This is the College’s third time to achieve this recognition.

Florida Community College is an internationally recognized educational technology leader. It is one of four Cisco Academy Training Centers in Network Security training. It is also one of six centers designated by Cisco Systems as Cisco Academy Training Centers.

The Department of Defense has awarded Florida Community College two contracts totaling $67 million over five years to provide education and training to thousands of sailors — about 45,000 enrollments annually — at Naval Station Great Lakes and Naval Air Station Pensacola. Florida Community College is home to the Military Education Institute, one of only four community colleges in the nation, along with 14 universities, designated to provide global, online degrees to Navy personnel.

Florida Community College at Jacksonville has been named one of only 72 community colleges in the country to be awarded a $2 million grant, out of a total $125 million nationwide. The award came as the result of the College’s successful competition in the President’s Community-based Job Training Grants initiative.

Florida Community College is now offering its first-ever bachelor degree: the Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science Management. This degree program was developed with the support of local fire officials, government leaders and university administrators. The College’s Fire Science Training Academy is the most extensive and sophisticated of its type in Florida. Offering this Bachelor of Applied Science degree in this location offers access to untapped capability and capacity without significant new investment of public dollars.

Statewide, Florida Community College has the largest workforce development program, the largest IT curriculum and the largest distance learning program.

Pathways Academy, an innovative response to the serious high-school dropout problem, began its second year of operation in newly renovated facilities at FCCJ’s Downtown Campus.
- Nearly 4,300 students earned an associate in arts or associate in science degree or certificate in 2006–07. For the same period, 1,700 students earned their GED or Adult High School Diploma.

- Florida Community College at Jacksonville ranks fifth in associate degrees awarded in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Students and Humanities.
