Fifth FCCJ Summer Arts Institute for teens scheduled

Florida Community College at Jacksonville is once again offering
the Summer Arts Institute for Creative Youth, an intensive two-week summer program for
students ages 13-17. Students have a choice of studying three subjects from the
following arts disciplines: Acting/Improvisation, Creative Writing/Playwriting, Black
and White Photography, Digital Photography, Graphic Arts/Cartooning, Drawing and
Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture, Printmaking and Mixed Media. Students choose one art
form to study in the mornings for the length of the program, then choose one art
form to study in the afternoon the first week and a different form the second
week.
The application process includes a completed application, an
essay, a list of awards and accomplishments, a letter of recommendation and a $50

The College has been awarded a Governors Summer Program grant which will cover the $500 tuition and daily lunch voucher for qualifying students in Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties. Students who want to apply for the scholarships must apply through their countys Exceptional Student Education office (Duval 904.346.4601; Clay 904.272.8100; St. Johns 904.819.7148).
Students who wish to apply have until June 1 to submit their applications; however, due to the limited number of spaces all students are urged to apply as soon as possible. Students applying for regular admission may call 904.646.2111 for an application and more information.
The daily program begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. Students are responsible for their transportation.
