Ten-month certificate program starts August 27

Florida Community College at Jacksonville offers its Dental Assisting program once a year, beginning in August. Students are still being admitted to the program for the Fall Term. Students who complete the Dental Assisting program have an excellent outlook for job prospects, in a profession that averages an hourly rate of about $13 an hour, with the opportunity for higher pay with experience and based on location.

This Workforce Certificate program at FCCJ’s North Campus takes 10 months to complete and provides students with theoretical, practical and clinical skills. Students will learn basic dental sciences, radiographic techniques, materials, sterilization and disease control. The program costs about $3,000 which includes materials, books and fees. It has been approved by the Florida Board of Dentistry to prepare students for certification in expanded duties and dental radiology.

Applicants for admission must provide and official high-school transcript or GED scores and an application form for the Dental Assisting program. For more information on admissions or a career in dental assisting call 904.766.6571.
