Leadership Development Series at FCCJ focuses on skills effective leaders need

Florida Community College at Jacksonville is offering a Leadership Development Series beginning in June. The six-session series is designed for experienced supervisors, managers and for graduates of its successful Frontline Supervisor Series.

Sessions begin June 14 and run alternate Thursdays through August 23. Classes meet from 8 a.m.–noon. Sessions will instruct students in one of six subjects: Leadership Development; Critical Thinking and Problem Solving; Diversity Awareness; Selecting, Retaining and Motivating Employees; Coaching Success; and Communicating and Influencing with Confidence.

Using the latest leadership and management resources, the Leadership Development Series focuses on core competencies and strategies to help participants become effective leaders. This series includes an extensive assessment which covers 32 aspects of working life. Based on the leadership assessment, each participant receives a customized development action plan, which summarizes the participant’s typical work style under 16 management competency headings. The development action plan highlights participant strengths and clearly outlines strategies for development.

The cost is $695 (plus a one-time $15 membership fee for students who have never been enrolled at FCCJ). All workshops will be held at Kent Campus, 3939 Roosevelt Blvd., Building D, Room 269.

Presenters include the following local leaders: Joanna Scarboro, Andrea Giggetts, Jenny Carney, Julie Simmons and Jason Fouraker. Biographies of the presenters appear below.
