In July Florida Community College began Cisco/IT training for 28 Florida National Guard soldiers. They trained 600 total hours. Ten courses prepared the soldiers for A+, N+, Security +, and Cisco’s CCNA certifications. The schedule required their presence six days a week, 10 hours a day for 10 weeks. Twenty-eight started and 25 completed the training. The soldiers are from across the state of Florida. There are 3 female soldiers. Three soldiers are reportedly from Jacksonville and one previously attended FCCJ. Their last day in class is August 30.
There will be a ceremony to honor their accomplishments Aug. 28, 10-11 a.m. in the FCCJ Advanced Technology Center, 401 W. State St. Media are invited to attend, learn about the accomplishments of the students (some of whom had little computer experience before undertaking this complicated training), talk to them about their experiences and wish them well as they head to their mission. Scheduled to attend are: MG Douglas Burnett, Adjutant General Florida National Guard; LTC Matt Johnson, 146th ESB Battalion Commander; CSM Richard Campbell.
