Pathways Academy, FCCJ charter high school, now enrolling for Fall admissions

Pathways Academy, the charter school at Florida Community College’s Downtown Campus, is currently enrolling students for Fall 2008. A high school specifically for dropouts between the ages of 16–20, Pathways is designed to deliver academic, career, character and life–skills instruction in a simultaneous secondary and postsecondary environment. This program is offered at no cost to students. Comprehensive case–management services, individualized attention, career development and innovative curricula will lead students on the path to a high–school diploma. Enrollment steps include completing an application, taking an academic–skills assessment and attending orientation sessions.

Pathways Academy is also holding open enrollment sessions on Saturday, June 14 and Saturday, July 12. This is an opportunity for applicants to complete all admissions requirements in one day. Interested applicants and their parents should report to Downtown Campus Bldg. A, third floor, west wing. The academic skills assessment will be administered at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Orientation is from 1:30–3:30 p.m. in the same location. Students should bring with them a state–issued photo ID or driver license and their signed Social Security card.

Successful applicants must achieve grade level 9 in Reading and grade level 7 in Mathematics and Language on the academic skills assessment. Students who have a Class III offense in the public school system are not eligible for admission to Pathways Academy.

Call Pathways Academy at 904.633.8125 for more information on regularly scheduled enrollment and orientation opportunities, or the two Saturday open enrollment sessions. Downtown Campus is located at 101 W. State St.
