Let’s Get to Work — Career Training

From autos to computers to interior design, if you’re looking to move into a highly rewarding job at a quicker pace, then our career training programs may be right for you.

Florida Community College offers programs in business, health, engineering and industry, computer science, public service and other fields designed to fulfill the career education needs of the community’s citizens and employers.

Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science and College Credit Certificates

With the associate in science (A.S.) and the associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degrees, you receive the technical knowledge and training you’ll need to begin the job of your choice. Several of our A.S. programs can transfer into corresponding bachelor’s programs at Florida public universities. And the general education portion of all our AS degrees will transfer to four-year programs in Florida.

Looking to get there even quicker? College credit certificate programs will provide you with the necessary skills to begin working right away. Unlike the AS and AAS degree, these programs are usually finished in a year, and don’t include general education courses.

The admission process for these programs is similar to that of the associate in arts degree (university transfer), although some of our associate in science, associate in applied science and college credit certificate programs have additional requirements for admissions. Workforce Credit Certificates

Workforce programs prepare you for a skilled job, in such fields as construction, cosmetology and health care, without having to take college-credit courses. Program length varies from almost two years to a few months. Enrolling in a Workforce Credit Certificate program is simple:

  1. Fill out and submit an Florida Community College membership application, along with the $15 fee.
  2. If you are interested in receiving financial aid, call or visit the enrollment services office on the campus of your choice.
  3. If you haven’t decided on your career goal, make an appointment with a counselor at the Career Development Center on campus.
  4. Contact the assessment and certification center on campus and take the required Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Your TABE scores will show whether you need to take courses in basic skills such as mathematics, language and reading.
  5. Make an appointment with the manager of the program you plan to enter. The program manager will help you choose which classes to take first. You can find the names of program managers and advisors at the programs of study page.
  6. Register for the courses you plan to take using Florida Community College’s online registration at Artemis or at the enrollment services office on campus.
