Florida Community College’s Cecil Center South — Aviation Center of Excellence (ACE) is one of only 65 colleges in the nation to offer Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified training. The Center’s 47,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility at the U.S. Navy’s former Cecil Field is the envy of most schools.

The Center’s level of education is so outstanding, the FAA’s own aviation safety inspectors have trained here. Each of our full-time faculty averages 20 years of real-world expertise and holds bachelor’s or master’s degrees. And now, the Center has partnered in a $1.2 million grant for an aviation/aerospace workforce education cluster center.

Aviation is changing. New types of planes are revolutionizing air travel. Small jets can carry six to 18 passengers, fly at the same height and speed as commercial airliners, cost less than $1 million and make private aviation affordable. Since 2003, deliveries for turbine business aircraft increased 30 percent and pilot hiring doubled. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts about 10,000 new positions annually before 2008. There is upward pressure on wages. For people who live to put planes in the air, the Cecil Center South — Aviation Center of Excellence (ACE) programs offers the education you need for the future you want.
