Workforce Certificate

Through this program, you learn to install, operate, program, interface, service, troubleshoot and implement automated equipment and robotic systems for various applications. You gain tremendous expertise in electronics, industrial control circuits, instrumentation sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), hydraulics and pneumatics.

In each course, you’ll have the benefit of two instrumentation laboratories equipped with a full complement of today’s advanced measurement and control devices. Over half the program is hands–on, which includes lab projects designed to interface with actual process applications set up in an applications lab.

This program does not provide a Florida state workforce certificate but does provide a Florida Community College certificate. Students can articulate to the certificate or college credit degree programs; contact the advisor for more information. This program incorporates the skills and experience needed for many industrial automation careers. The program is designed for students seeking the necessary hands-on experience of industrial automation. After completing the courses in this program the student can transfer to a college credit program.

Annual Salaries

Entry level wage in industrial machinery and manufacturing in Florida averages $17.10 per hour. Overtime, bonuses, rapid advancement and opportunities for self-employment can rapidly increase your income.

Application Procedure

This program does not provide a Florida state workforce certificate but does provide a Florida Community College certificate. After completing the courses in this program, students can articulate to the certificate or college credit degree programs.

The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is a major criterion in a student’s completion of the program. Students who fail to meet the State of Florida’s designated exit score will be required to complete the Vocational Preparatory Instruction (VPI). In order to complete the program successfully, students must achieve or surpass the designated exit score(s). See Standards of Academic Progress.

Basic minimum skill levels in math, reading, and language must be attained in order to complete this program. Students wishing to enter this program of study should be advised by the instructor or program manager prior to enrollment in these courses.

Applicants must:

1. Be accepted for admission to Florida Community College.
2. Provide a high school completion transcript or copy of GED test scores.
3. Show completion of TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). For TABE information, call 904.633.8388.
