Workforce Certificate

The Industrial Maintenance program is designed to prepare students for entry level positions relating to industrial maintenance. This program covers electrical basics including, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial wiring, electronic technology, equipment maintenance, and motors and controls. The job outlook is very positive now and in the future.

Approximately 60-70 percent of the training is “hands-on” utilizing actual industrial equipment and situations emphasizing electrical safety in all of the training environments, classrooms, and labs.

This program does not provide a Florida state workforce certificate but does provide a Florida Community College certificate. Students can articulate to the certificate or college credit degree programs; contact the advisor for more information. This program incorporates the skills and experience needed for many industrial maintenance careers. The program is designed for students seeking the necessary hands-on experience for entry level positions in the field of industrial maintenance. After completing the courses in this program the student can transfer to a college credit program.

Annual Salaries

Entry level wage in industrial machinery and manufacturing in Florida averages $17.10 per hour. Overtime, bonuses, rapid advancement and opportunities for self-employment can rapidly increase your income.

Application Procedure

1. Applicants must be accepted for admission to Florida Community College.
2. A high school completion transcript or copy of General Education Development (GED) test scores.
3. Completion of TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). For TABE information call 904.633.8388.

The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is a major criterion in a student’s completion of the program. Students who fail to meet the State of Florida’s designated exit score will be required to complete the Vocational Preparatory Instruction (VPI). In order to complete the program successfully, students must achieve or surpass the designated exit score(s). See Standards of Academic Progress.
