Student Ambassadors
Student ambassadors assist the College in
recruitment and retention activities. Working through the Student Life and Leadership Development offices at Downtown, Kent, North and South Campuses
and through the student success offices at Open Campus and the Deerwood, Nassau and
Martin Centers, they provide both prospective and current students
with the information they need to succeed at Florida Community
College. There are five student ambassador
positions for each campus and two for each center.
- Complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- Be a college credit, degree seeking student.
- Maintain a 2.5 minimum GPA with at least 9 credit hours each fall and spring term.
- Demonstrate a history of involvement in campus activities in high school or college.
- Devote a minimum of 20 hours per week with flexibility in schedule as needed.
- Provide own transportation.
- Must not have earned an associate degree or higher degree.
- Assist with programs focused on college-prep students
- Lead campus tours
- Be familiar with campus resources
- Contact first-time enrolled students
- Assist with orientation, registration, open houses and special events
- Promote campus wide learning communities
- Promote campus service learning and volunteer opportunities
- Participate in campus activities/student activities
- Take a leadership role in Student Government Association
- Assist in marketing activities
- Assist in recruitment efforts
- Participate in collegewide Ambassador trainings
- Assist with year-end graduation/commencement ceremonies
- Serve on special committees as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Student ambassadors are not student employees
or student workers. They receive a talent grant award and do
not complete a student work schedule form.
- Students are eligible to receive scholarship funds to assist with the cost of tuition and books.
- Fall and Spring Terms: ambassadors must enroll and successfully complete at least nine credit hours each term.
- Summer Term: stipends will be reduced if course load is less than six credit hours. Recent high school graduates are not eligible for the talent grant until the fall.
- If an ambassador drops a class or does not pass a class, the scholarship will not be continued for the next term. Student may remain an ambassador, but will lose the talent grant scholarship.
